About Us
The Montessori Elementary & Preschool was established in 1979
by a small group of teachers dedicated to offering a Montessori
education for students from families committed to this method of
education. The Board of Directors approved the move of the school
to Lemont in 1990. In 2001, the school moved to its permanent location
in Lemont after the construction of a new campus on 7.5 acres of
donated land.
In the Spring of 2010, a new building was completed to house our
Lower Elementary (6-9 year old) students. Funds are currently being
raised to add an Activity Center and a Toddler Community to our
existing Primary (3-6 year old) building.
Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Montessori Elementary & Preschool to provide for the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual education of children ages 3-14 years following the methods and philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori.
Philosophy
We accept and encourage the individuality of all members of our
community: children, parents, staff and visitors. We welcome people
of all cultures, races, religions, nationalities, origin, disabilities
and genders in the belief that we will be enriched by the differences
and aware of the interrelatedness of all peoples in all societies.
The Montessori School of Lemont does not discriminate on the basis
of race, color, sexual orientation or national or ethnic origin.
It is Maria Montessori's global approach to education that we believe
to be the true Education for Life.
